Molly McLaughlin is a musician without borders.
With an extensive background in diverse projects, Molly is a core member of Ensemble Ibérica and performs regularly with her band, Into The Sun. Molly is currently based in Ireland while pursuing a Master's in Traditional Irish Flute at the University of Limerick.
Molly has toured with Jethro Tull, recorded at Capitol Records, and performed at the Folk Alliance International Conference. She has competed in and won multiple competitions including the grand prize of the vanRooy Competition for Musical Excellence, first prize in the Redlands Young Artist Competition, and was awarded an alto flute in the Brio! Flutes Alternative Flute Competition. Additionally, Molly is a composer, vocalist, and improviser.
Molly holds a Master of Fine Arts from the California Institute of the Arts and a Bachelor of Music from the Hartt School, specializing in contemporary, Classical, and traditional Irish flute. She has had the privilege to study with John Wion, Allan Vogel, Rachel Rudich, Turlach Boylan, and Angela Longo.
Molly is a strong supporter of Fair Plé, the grassroots organization that aims to achieve gender balance in the production, performance, promotion and development of Irish traditional and folk music. Fair Plé advocates for equal opportunity and balanced representation for all.
